Please watch your Arterial Blood Pressure

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

dr-cozmo-blood-pressureHigh blood pressure is called “The silent killer” because many people suffer from it and don’t even know they have it. High blood pressure also known as hypertension means high pressure (tension) in the arteries. Arteries carry blood from the heart to all the tissues and organs of the body. High blood pressure is not necesarrily caused by emotional factors but it can help increase it. Normal blood pressure is considered below 120/80. Blood pressure consistently between 120/80 and 139/89 mean you could be starting to develop high blood pressure. If it is above 140/90 it is considered high.

Gracias VRS cares and wants each of you to be healthy. Please go to your local pharmacy or clinic and have your blood pressure level checked. It could save your life! Also call all your family and friends and tell them the ” Silent Killer” could be affecting their health. Always visit your doctor for your regular checkups and ask for an interpreter so you can be 100 percent informed about your health. High blood pressure is not a game. If you already have it take your medication regularly so you can have a long, healthy and happy life.

Service Interruption

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

Gracias VRS experienced a brief service interruption on Saturday February 25th, 2012, between 8:55pm and 10:50pm EST. During this time the PSTN lines were interrupted and corresponding parties associated with monitoring these lines were immediately contacted. The colo location hosting the PSTN lines was contacted and the server was rebooted and this resolved the problem.

During this time, clients were able to dial into our service using graciasvrs.tv and our team of CA’s made sure to speak with each one and give explanation of the temporary service interruption and assured them the outgoing calls were going to be able to be placed once confirmation that the lines were operational again.

We thank you very much for your patience during this time and look forward to seeing you again soon!

Taking time for yourself

Friday, February 24th, 2012

cozmo-taking-time“15 min a day” use that to just be calm, read, talk to friends and family on the phone or take a bath.

“1 hour a week” use to do something you enjoy. Get together for a dinner with friends or get a massage.

“1 day a month” take one day a month to just hang out and get away from work. Go out and be social or stay in and make it a lazy day with loved ones.

It really is that easy!

Contact your friends and family to see what you can do with your “15-1-1”

Enjoy your weekend.

Cozmo says: February is peak flu season!

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Alert, Alert February is considered peak time for Flu season!

Flu season is at it’s peak in February.

If you feel sick call your doctor to determine what is the best course of action for you.

People who catch the flu while having other chronic illnesses can develop life threatening complications and prevention is the best “cure”.

With this in mind, washing and or sanitizing your hands frequently and the spaces where you share at home and at work is the best line of defense to keep the flu away.

Also, The Center for Disease Control says that you should get vaccinated every year. Along with staying away from contact with people who already are sick due to influenza.

Finally, those who are sick need emotional support, so remember to keep your friends and family informed as well, so they can protect themselves from the Flu .

If anyone you know is already sick, provide them emotional support by calling or stopping to help make them feel better.

For more information about the Flu (influenza) check out: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/preventing.htm

Or call them at 1-800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636)

Common Resume Types

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

ResumesJob Searching starts with a good resume.

There are three common types of Resume.

Review each and decide which is best for you.

Resume Type One:

  • You put “ALL” your schooling and the jobs you ever had from oldest to newest.
  • Called: “Chronological Format” (you can Google this for examples)
  • Best if you plan to keep the same type of job but just want to move companies.
  • Difficult to use if you want to make a career change.

Resume Type Two:

  • You put your strengths and skills into groups without adding specific dates.
  • Called: Functional Format (or creative or skills format) (you can Google this for examples.)
  • Best if you are a new graduate, have gaps in your education or employment history, or older people returning to work.
  • Difficult to use because it is not always accepted by employers. This is because they may feel you are “hiding something”.

Resume Type Three

  • You use some of type one “Chronological Format” and some of type two “Functional Format”.
  • Called: “Combined format” (you can Google this for examples)
  • Best if to highlight important skills or education from your past and can be easily changed for to match any different job you may be applying for.
  • Difficult to use when employers want one page resumes

But no matter what resume type you choose remember that if you self-identify yourself as Deaf or Hard of Hearing you can also include on your resume that any assistive devices the company pays for, including interpreters, may be a Tax Deduction for them so that they are not worried about the company budget. For more information visit www.irs.gov under the tab for businesses or you the phone number for your local IRS branch at http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts/index.html and call for more information.
